Resident Security Engineering Support for a Government Revenue Agency
Government & Public Sector
Security Device Management

Situation

A national government revenue agency operating a large and complex security device estate required continuous, on-site engineering support. Managing firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and endpoint security tooling across a distributed environment exceeded the capacity of their internal IT team.

Challenge

The agency's security infrastructure required constant configuration management, vulnerability assessment, patch scheduling, and health-checking to remain effective. With a high volume of security devices under management, maintaining operational hygiene whilst responding to evolving threat intelligence was a persistent and resource-intensive burden.

What We Did

Techdirect placed resident security engineers on-site to manage the full security device lifecycle — including configuration reviews, vulnerability assessments, patch scheduling, health monitoring, and threat intelligence integration. Our engineers operated within the agency's change management framework and provided structured reporting to the agency's security leadership on a regular cadence.

Outcomes

• Security device estate maintained at full operational health throughout the engagement

• Vulnerability backlog reduced significantly within the first quarter of the engagement

• Regular governance reporting provided to CISO-level leadership, improving security visibility

• Internal IT team upskilled through day-to-day knowledge transfer with resident engineers
